Going Organic- Do organic ingredients really matter? | 10 Organic Products You Should Try

How many of you guys have bought organic products? Well, if you have you would see a significant price difference between normal products and organic products.
Whenever we go to our local grocer, organic ingredients are priced significantly higher than ordinary ingredients. This scenario may cause some people to ponder if organic ingredients really do make a difference in the taste and texture of the end product.

Organic food is food that does not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

There are not enough studies to show that organic foods are safer, healthier, or more nutritious than conventional foods. There is also little research on the health outcomes of people who eat primarily organic diets. However, if one is able to afford organic food, one should use organic ingredients as it deepens the flavour of food and as no pesticides are used, it could possibly be better for your health :)

If you want to try using organic ingredients in baking or cooking, why not try some if these:

1. Organic pastry flour
Organic pastry flour has less protein content so baked pastry made from organic flour would be softer.

Protein gives baked goods a structure.

2. Organic coconut oil
Organic coconut oil can be used to substitute any kind of oil but the baked goods would have a coconut taste.

3. Organic honey
Honey can be used to substitute sugar but reduce the amount of liquids in the recipe. Honey has a mellow and warm taste and is not as sweet as cane sugar.

4. Organic cane sugar
Sometimes sugar cannot be substituted as it needs to be creamed with butter to make it light and fluffy.

5. Organic pecans
The taste of organic pavan taste nuttier and sweeter when toasted. Add pecans to fruit cakes, tarts, muffins for a deliciously aromatic fragrance.

6. Organic milk, cream and butter
These organic finds are easy to be found in any local grocer and are great substitutes for regular dairy products.

7. Organic eggs
Organic eggs do not contain high levels of antibiotics and hormones that are injected into the chicken and  have limited amounts of harmful elements in them compared to ordinary eggs.

8. Organic fruits
Strawberries and stone fruits are some of the common fruits that are added into cakes but they also attract a lot of bugs and hence are constantly strayed with insecticide. Getting organic fruits limit the amount of insecticide consumed into the body and also control the quality of cakes.

9. Organic Medjool dates
Medjool dates add sweetness, flavour, fibre and texture to baked goods. Dates can be mashed, sliced or diced.

10. Sea salt
Although sea salt is not an organic food, it adds depth of flavour to food which cannot be found in ordinary salt.

No matter what you bake or cook, organic ingredients add depth of flavour to food. It is good to try using organic ingredients in your cooking to taste the difference for yourself :)
